Negatory.

I'm looking for a dressmaker.
Over coffee, before dawn this morning, I was chuckling to myself about the massive number of blog posts I've recently written.... in my head.

Ages ago, when I began this blog, I deemed it 'My Positive Place' ~ setting a firm guideline that I could only post about happy stuff.

A bright spot: Orchids are re-blooming.
Perhaps it's the introvert in me, but I don't like it when people use their blogs as a soapbox for all the problems in their own little worlds. (I'm even less thrilled with bloggers who prescribe to that infernal ABC meme. Have you stopped to consider how tiring it is to visit blogging friends when 12 of them are dedicating a post to E is for Echinacea?? "E" is for 'enough already...')

But, as of this morning, I'm thinking if I don't allow myself to bitch a little, I may never blog again.

This is wedding year. My darling daughter is getting married. (She has, so far, not given me approval to be in charge of the bouquet, but I'm not worried. I'm highly skilled at groveling.)
The Pure White Orchid is re-blooming, too.

The thing is... I couldn't be happier!

And, yes, I know weddings are big business, they're very expensive, but I don't really care if it will take me a year to pay this off. She's my lucky charm! I want it to be a lovely day.

I'm talking in the singular because I'm happily divorced. (To be clear, that was his idea. Shocking, I know! That somebody wants to rid themselves of me...? :) And, while she has a very well-to-do Dad, he's claimed he's too poor to contribute very much to this event.

Now if that is, indeed, the case I'm actually okay with this. But, then I got his email: We are taking care of designing, writing and producing her save-the-date cards and invitations. On us.

It made me ballistic. As if somehow an hour of his time, in creating an invitation, was equal to offering to help her pay for her dress. Seriously? Writing? Ahem. "You're invited. Be there with bells on!" Whew! That tough project's done.

What do you do when you're mad? I pull weeds. Or, pet horses. Sometimes I pet horses while they're pulling weeds.

And, as far as this bitch session? Well... I just thought I'd toss this one out into the universe in case anyone has some wise advice.

* PS: I am, really and truly, looking for a seamstress who can sew L's gown. Know anybody?

Not that you need it, but I'm livid on your behalf. But karma's a witch with a bee...

I guarantee you an occasional bitch session is an absolute must in order to hang on to ones sanity. The older I get the more I have to bitch about but my friend says it all small stuff and I shouldn't waste my time on it. She's right. Your situation calls for an all out explosion...so have at it. Congratulations on your daughter's marriage...I hope you find your seamstress.

While I try to keep my blog a positive place too I think sometimes we need to allow ourselves a little leeway. In other words, go ahead and feel free to bitch!! we can take it. oh yes, and congratulations :)

Thanks, dear Friends;

That Vera Wang picture... well, we're headed there this weekend! It's not like we could actually afford to buy anything but it sure will be fun. :D

And here I thought you were going to moan and groan about the appearance of THAT dress!!!

My attitude would be, better to not have him involved with the important stuff. Would be just like him to screw it up. :) But I'm funny that way.

Congrats on the happy occasion, the successful vent and such drop-dead gorgeous orchids!!!

Soul Sistahs, Snowcatcher;
You are clearly picking up what I'm putting down. Hey! Might you be willing to crochet her a dress? :))

Aww I wish I knew some one who could help. My mother sewed her wedding dress herself. But she doesn't have the time or the eyes for sewing anymore. I'm quite good if I have a pattern to follow but I'm no professional.

Gorgeous orchids btw! Mine are blooming right now too :)

Try not to get caught up in all the hype. Try to remember it is one day out of the year. It will all go well and you will have happy memories.

I just went through three weddings in one summer (a year ago) with the ladies I work with. The drama just didn't seem to be worth the stress for that one day. They all had beautiful weddings to attend. The children are married. That is what counts.

The Jerk will always be a jerk.

The seamstress here wouldn't be of much help to you. Best of luck.

You're the boss of your blog, Kate. Write whatever you want.

Believe it or not, I still have a journal I use for my venting. Old school handwriting - that's my therapy. It works really, really well.

People are complicated.

Not much in a blogging mood either. It's February after all.

I do know a dressmaker in Utah Valley. Many of the dresses she's made for her clientele have been featured in the local wedding mags. She is used to people bringing in designer pics of dresses for her to replicate. I can DM you her info via Twitter if you want.

Susan! My heart just skipped a beat! Yes, please send me the info. THANK YOU.

Congrats on the upcoming nuptials! My daughter is getting married this year, as well, so we are in the midst of planning. Don't feel bad for venting now and then. We hear you...and we feel for you!

Grats on the wedding! Im sure it will be an amazing event. <3

Im not sure why some people behave the way they do in regards to their own children. From child support, child care, college or to help them out with their huge life events. All I can say is that your daughter most definitely is aware of all that you do for her.. and in the long run.. even in the short run.. is what matters..

Best wishes for you and your daughter!
