Orange Crush

My 'bottle rockets' are happily celebrating the 4th of July.
I've always had a mad crush on the color orange. Can't, for the life of me, figure out why it's considered the 'color of insanity.'

Whaddyathink? Do you love it? Hate it? However you feel about orange, I'm sure you'll agree on one thing. Orange simply cannot be ignored.

I purchased a gorgeous orange dress one time. Back when I was skinny so I could wear pretty much anything. Except, maybe, that.

Whenever I wore it, people would ask me if I was feeling okay. Hmmm...

So, clearly orange is not my color. At least not on the bod.

But, that hasn't stopped me from squeezing it into every nook and cranny.. in the garden:

Here's hoping you're having a wonderfully lazy time of it during this holiday week. Happy 4th!

I do love orange, but there was a time when it was banned from my garden. I like it better now, and have it in quite a few spots. I only just recently bought two tops that are sort of a soft apricot-y orange, and my husband actually complimented me! I don't think I could do an orange dress, though!

I have admitted that I use to hate the color. But I am adding more of it in the garden now. Your Red Hot Pokers are just so pretty Kate. I just added one to my garden after seeing them in Virginia. The dahlia is just gorgeous. You have some lovely orange flowers in your garden. Have a wonderful 4th.

Orange in a hot garden is one of my favorites. I have to be careful, though, because it can clash with some colors.

Before I moved to Denver, the football team was known as Orange Crush, and being a fan back then, well, I had quite a bit of orange, but like you, not on the bod. I do love it in the garden. And now I'm finding I love to crochet with it with colors I never would have mixed with it before.

But orange and blue... well, even though I'm not really a football fan anymore, there's still something special about that mixup. :)

I don't wear orange, but I do love orange wildflowers and orange sunsets. An orange sun due to smoky air is pretty, but I'd rather skip the cause.

Love, love, love your orange blooms! Around here the wild ditch lilies (we call them tiger lilies) are blooming happy bright orange all over, and I can't get enough of them. Orange is a color that makes you smile.

I love flowers in all colors, even orange. Orange is not my favorite however, except for those orange ice cream bars with the vanilla inside. But, just to go outside my usual pinks I planted an entire 4X12 garden of dahlias in oranges, yellows and variations. Can't wait until they bloom......BTW, how did you get a dahlia to bloom this early in Park City? I'm jealous. It sure is a beauty!!!

I'm never quite sure how to combine orange in the garden but your first photo caught my eye. The orange of the pokers combines beautifully with the blue spruce in the background.

Orange is my father's favorite color.

He used to walk a lot on our suburban Pennsylvania roads and he always said that it made it easier for drivers to spot him. (That way they could either avoid him completely or if they did hit him, go for a clean kill. My dad has an odd sense of humor.)

Personally, I'd say I don't go out of my way to add orange to the garden, but I do like my little sparky French Marigolds! http://www.localharvest.org/images/cat/prod_5026_10563.jpg

Oh yes, orange. My husband's favorite color but not generally mine. To be nice I started planting more orange into the garden and discovered it looks fabulous with blues and purples. Who would of thought??
