Such lovely colors for this time of year. have you noticed any timing being off this year? a lot of my things after spring got a fungus or disease from all the late rain.. and what is flowering now is sort of smallish.. I am curious of the spiky orange/coral flower, as I do not think it is around the S.E. WI. area ;) zone 4-5. Faythe @GMT

Seeing the mountains in the background behind all these wildflower lovelies almost makes me want to jump in the car and drive my daughter back to Portland at the end of the month instead of putting her on a plane. I missed seeing blooms like these on our cross-country trip last summer.
Yes, the spiky flowers are Indian Paintbrush. They mostly bloom in orange -- and pink, in the more protected areas.
The others are wild Geraniums, Yarrow and Fireweed.
Faythe -- Your growing conditions in pretty Wisc. are way too nice for the Paintbrush. They like it very dry. :)
Rose -- I think you're ever so fortunate to have a daughter living in my favorite state of Oregon. Hmmm.. I wonder if I could talk my daughter into moving out there? tee hee
