John Cabot Roses (post blooming extravaganza.)
Oh, dear little blog... how I have missed thee. And, my garden, too.
I believe this might be the longest break I've ever taken between blog posts. And, while I do have a great excuse, it doesn't make for a very good story.
Scabiosa ~ Look close. Not just flowering in this frigid world. Bravely putting forth new buds! You grow, girl.
A scary ear infection (Geez! Those things are painful) had me down for the count. I slept away an entire week thanks to Dr. Kevorkian, Jr. ~ that HMO whiz of mine ~ who's answer to any dilemma is... Here! Take more pills.
Euphorbia adds a crazy bit of color to this icy brown landscape.
Plus today is Bloom Day! And, I gotta participate! Even if I don't have a single thing worth showing.
Some high in the sky apples, keeping the birdies happy and the horses frustrated:
One tricky little mushroom masquerading as a daisy:
And, Helianthus perennial sunflowers. Which, in my humble opinion, look just as pretty in winter time:

Glad you're back and hope you are feeling wonderful by the time your company arrives.
I love this post! The Sacabiosa is new to my gardens this year... and I absolutely love it. I picked the last bloom to dry. Hope you're feeling better soon.
So sorry to hear you've been ill, Kate. Hope Dr. K's pills are doing the trick...and sleep, yes, that's my remedy for everything.
Amazing to see that scabiosa braving the snow and ice; I don't think I have anything that tough in my garden.
Take care,
Rose
Hi Kate, Happy you are at least feeling well enough to go out and capture the photos you shared. The light on that Cabot rose and Euphorbia is beautiful. Take care of yourself so you can enjoy Thanksgiving!
Thx, KC;
It's good to be up and at 'em. I'm a very whiny sick person.
Hi, Meredehuit;
You're gonna love the pincushions! Plant the black ones, they're quite striking. ;-)
Happy Bloom Day, Rose!
They're a favorite flower of mine, mostly because of how feisty they are. Once they start blooming they never want to stop.
Oh dear Kate, I hope you are feeling better. Ear infections can be so painful, you take care of yourself. Your garden still looks very good even with the snow:)
First, hope you're feeling better!! You must have had QUITE the infection.
Your post was fun. Thank you! :-)
Call my crazy, but seeing your snow is making me wish for a little of my own.
The Euphorbia is gorgeous. Does it have green/white foliage and white flowers in the summer?
Luv the mushroom photo and the apples high in the sky is my favorite photo.
Stay well now....you have all the cleaning and cooking to do.
Always a pleasure to stop by your blog.

Hi Kate, Hope you are feeling better each moment. Lovely photos.
Kate, I'm so happy to know that you are up and around. Can't keep a good gal down! you know. ;)
I love the fact that your blooms for bloom day come with a little snow frosting!
Thx, Jenn;
I guess I've been blessed up until now - never had an ear infection before. They certainly knock the wind outta ya.
Hi, Shady;
I am feeling better - thanks for the note. I spent most of my 'bedtime' drooling over seed catalogs. Yikes! And, it's only November. :))
It's the time of year, don't you think Donna?
When I lived up in your neck of the woods I 'needed' snow before Thanksgiving. I mean, that's half the fun of living in the far north.
Thanks, One;
It was kind of fun poking around out there in the frozen garden.
Hey, Di!
We've got company for Thanksgiving so I best get over to your blog and see if I can scrounge up another yummy recipe, or two...
Snow frosting! What a lovely descriptor, Laurrie. I like that!
Happy Bloom Day one and all! :D
PS to Donna -
This particular Euphorbia has bright yellow blossoms. Euphorbia polychroma Purpurea :)
Wow someone else has snow as well as me. Sorry to hear you have been sick Kate. I'm so glad you are feeling better now. Euphorbia is my new favourite garden plant
Thx, Melanie;
I'm on the mend, slow but sure... :)
I think you will LOVE Euphorbia. Beautiful fall color plus surprisingly early flowers in cold snowy April/May.
Note to Deb Mc.
Seeds will be in the mail Monday. I will most definitely pay you a visit! We need to talk horses! I'll be up at High Star in a week or two.
PS: I didn't publish your comment as I was afraid weird scary stalkers might glom onto your physical address. 'Cause there's so many of them in sweet little Kamas... Ha! :))
Scabiosa are my favorite winter flower here. So nice to know it will bloom in the snow.
Kate, I hope you are feeling better by now. I love the bloom of Scabiosa in the snow and the first photo too. Those apples will fall soon enough for the horses. Take it easy over the holiday. I trust you will be up to doing everything. ;>)
That Euphorbia is amazing!
