Johnny Jump Ups are the cheeriest little flowers. I start them from seed indoors. |
It is so miserably beautiful around here, I feel like jumping off a cliff.
I am grateful for a super sunny room, where most any flower happily blooms. |
I have not called in sick, lying about an illness so I could go skiing, even once this season. (My employers are becoming suspicious of my sudden dedication.)
This is a favorite color combo of mine ~ yellow + red = loud & proud! |
Can't live without a window full of Cyclamen. (This pic inspired by Jenn, Garden of Threads.) |
Love the Daisy-like blooms of this crazy little cactus hybrid. |
So, I'm sitting here, staring at a stack of flower and veggie seeds.
All befuddled.
Should I start them?
Should I wait?
Should I take out a loan for a greenhouse?
Perhaps I should throw in the towel and build myself a biosphere.
You know what they say... Go big. Or, go home.

You are not alone in your malaise. The lack of snow is seriously getting me down. I'm winter sowing a lot of my seeds in milk jugs outside because it still drops below freezing at night, but I worry about trees that were transplanted in the fall. I've been watering them with a garden hose at points. Depressing.
Well, I guess you gotta go big!
Lovely pinks today. I have some unexpected pink of my own today.

Here on the east coast we are befuddled too. 65 degrees today, Feb. 1. I want to ski, but eh, not when it's like this. All the eastern areas make snow, but when it gets this warm it is a losing battle. Get me my trowel, I'd rather garden today.
GO big girl! LOL! I love your cactus blooms Kate. So pretty. Looks like you have plenty of blooms to get you through. Only you would miss snow. LOL!
Hi, dear Kate. Thank you for the colorful and lovely display.... you warmed my heart and it makes me yearn for springtime. ;)
I started some brassicas.. have little tiny seedlings on a shelf here in my studio under a grow light, but it will be several weeks before I think about anything much else. Have a wonderful rest of the week.
Around here the second you take the plow off the pickup it snows.
Brown is the new Winter here and I'm trying to stay cheery. Your indoor blooms make me smile. :)
Can we opt for a biosphere filled with snow? This year has been downright strange and while others are quite happy to have a warm winter I too am worried about how it will affect our summer.
After the last two years, I can't believe I'm complaining about the lack of snow this year, but I am, too. I'd rather have cold, crisp, snowy days than endless days of "blah" weather. It makes me worried what kind of spring and summer we're going to have. I love that blooming cactus! What kind is it?
This is a weird winter. Heck, I was out cleaning out flower beds yesterday 57degrees. UGh... CAn't a gardener get a rest?? When it is pretty like this I feel guilty if I don't do something outside. I vote for your to get a green house. Then you can start anyting when you want. Beautiful cactus.
Thanks for the post mate you have written it very well.
Don't jump off a cliff! Maybe you should go riding while you're waiting for the weather to decide where it's going next...
You want to swap? Your "worst weather conditions imaginable" is what we should be having! And how are you managing so many beautiful vibrant photos?
