Things I'm certain are true ~ part 2! While the grass may not be greener on the other side of my fence, it is most definitely greener in Oregon.
Which is why, every September, this desert rat needs an Oregon fix.
Right after I have my annual breakdown.
Oh.... it's not a seriously crazy breakdown. Just a desperate desire to partake of some normal weather patterns.
You see, it rains a lot in Oregon. While that might make Oregonians a little depressed, it is precisely what I'm looking for!
Summer weather in my high plains desert is bright and sunny, hot and dry. Day in... day out... After about 4 hard gardening months of that business I'm ready to see how the other half lives.
And, that's when we skedaddle ~ to Oregon.
If you're in the mood for greener pastures, it doesn't get much greener than the Dundee Hills of Oregon.
Yep, that's Oregon for you. Yes, it does rain a lot here and it is greener because of it. I would love it if what came with that rain was not a seemingly constant overcast sky for so long a time. And in summer 85 degrees seems like 100! I plan to move to the Bend area (higher elevation, more sun, 4 seasons!) because of the lack of sun. I know it will be quite a change for me- still I grew up with a typical 4 seasons climate so I'm eager to return to that :)- beautiful shots- Portland is prettiest this time of year and even sunny (Sept. and part of Oct). Happy gardening to you :)
ReplyDeleteI forgot to mention I grew up in SLC ;)
ReplyDeleteWhat a fantastic collection of plants. I am very jealous as my garden is decidedly tatty at this stage of the year. Seeing your photos makes me want to rush out and buy new plants.
ReplyDeleteI want to go back but I'm afraid I wouldn't want to come home. It is so pretty and your photos look grand.
ReplyDeleteHi, Tessa!
ReplyDeleteIf only we could set things up so it rains at night and the sun shines during the day...
Either way, I think you're very lucky to live in Oregon. When I win the lottery I'm gonna buy a house on the beach in Netarts.
-k
PS! If you grew up in SLC then you probably know how tiresome the heat wave can become... You're gonna LOVE Bend. :))
ReplyDeleteKC - You are going back! With me. Next August for the Lavender festival. Let's drag Wunx along, too. :D
ReplyDeleteGarden Mad:
ReplyDeleteI think that's precisely how I ended up with so many fall bloomers. I kept seeing other people's gardens filled with late season color. Anyhoo... I got burned with many a Mum but found that Agastache and Asters can really fill in the gaps.
Love the viney seating area. I want to go there. Maybe I will!
ReplyDeleteHi Kate! Thanks for visiting over at J-a-M! I would love to have another girls weekend in SLC! Photos of new babies just don't quite replace a face to face visit. It sounds like your trip to Oregon was 'just the ticket!'
ReplyDeleteI would sure love to see your garden at its peak! Love the photos of the blooms, kitties and BD!
We went to Oregon in July. As a midwesterner located in Utah now, I do LOVE the sunny, sunny days. Too many cloudy days get to me. But it is green and cool in Oregon!
ReplyDeleteI wish we could grow beautiful flowers like these in Utah. I saw you were runner up at blotanical and wanted to congratulate you. Keep up the good work.
ReplyDeleteIron: You should definitely go. You'd love out there. Drag Jan along! While you're at it, take me, too! :D
ReplyDeleteHi, Jan!
ReplyDeleteMy flower gardens look much nicer on the blog - since I merrily shoot photos at angles so you can't see all my weeds! :))
Hi, Muum! - Me, too! As in originally being a Midwesterner, so I should not complain about our consistently beautiful sunny skies out here. But I probably will continue to do so. :D
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by!
Thanks, Marjorie! - That's sweet of you to say. I was excited to see that, too, though I'm not so sure I deserved it. I should have blogged a whole lot more this season. Anyhoo... I'm somewhat socially inept when it comes to blotanical but I did see that you friended me and so I will hightail it over there to friend you back.
ReplyDeleteJust as soon as I remember my password. :D
