Okay! Onward and upward.
These next two submissions are NOT mine. But, they're so cool I wanted to share. I hope you enjoy them.
My non garden-blogging friend, Karen, is a newbie to the world of Dahlias, but that didn't stop her from winning pretty much every prize in the house at last weekend's flower show.
Best Use of a Dining Room Table.
[These are just her winners. There were many more categories at the flower show.]
Three cheers for Karen. And, for Noelle, too. Creator of Monthly Garden Bouquet.
I like your arrangement- casual, natural and not too self-conscious like so many flower arrangements are.
ReplyDeleteThey're both lovely, Kate, but frankly I like your anything-but-sorry-little bouquet:) I'm not very good at arranging flowers, but I have an even harder time cutting anything from the garden, so I just enjoy my bouquets outdoors.
ReplyDeleteVery cool! I wish I could grow dahlias like that! Even if I didn't do flower shows!
ReplyDeleteActually I think the hose adds contrast and dimension, Kate!
ReplyDeleteOh, everything looks better with your great captions. Thanks for the nod:)
ReplyDeleteHow cheery for this gloomy day, Kate! Always something of interest, love clipping from outside to bring in.
ReplyDeleteI like your arrangement, simple and elegant. Just perfect. Take care.
ReplyDeleteYour flowers are a lovely arrangement, all the colors go very well together. Thanks for sharing, have a great week! :)
ReplyDeletethe other two may be winners...but I love the first one most.
ReplyDeleteLove your arrangement. You make arranging look so easy.
ReplyDeleteCongrats to your friend on all her ribbons, job well done, indeed.
I love you bouquet...it's so charming! I also love that I'm not the only one who forgets to move the hose when taking a picture!
ReplyDeletethanks, everyone! :))
ReplyDeleteI like your arrangement. Definitely will freshen up a room with its colors.
ReplyDeleteYour arrangement is cool! Casually put together and beguiling :) The penny, the hose and the wall make it real.
ReplyDeleteWell, your little bouquet is charming, and I like it very much. Beauty is not defined by size!
ReplyDeleteI love your whimsical bouquet Kate! What beautiful Dahlias your friend has grown. ;>)
ReplyDeleteThanks for the lovely images.
ReplyDeleteWe're having a 2nd Spring over here in Kamas - several weeks ago there were a couple of below-freezing nights that wiped out most of the garden. Taking advantage of the return of warmth, an explosion of new leaves has sprouted on just about everything!
I particularly enjoy your Autumn Clematis photo, and wondered if you'd planted or it was in the yard when you arrived. Looks to be invasive in the south and east, but might be a real bonus up here in the hills.
Hi, Deb!
ReplyDeleteThat's happening over here, too. :) I was up your way on Thursday, riding the Highline trail in the Uintas. Gorgeous autumn colors!
Sweet autumn clematis is a keeper. And, yes, I planted it after seeing one in full bloom at Red Butte Gardens. It's a monster of a vine, though, so give her lots of wiggle room. :D
Red Butte ... did they happen to have it growing up and around a niche framing a bench? I'm remembering seeing a spectacular explosion of simple flowers in that setting - absolutely humming with bees.
ReplyDeleteWe took a ride Friday afternoon too - climbed up from Marion to a pond tucked in aspens and pines. Got yelled at by Stellar's Jays while the horses cooled off and we ate some lunch by the water. Glorious afternoon with the sunlight backlighting the falling leaves.
Hi, Deb;
ReplyDeleteYep! It was so stunning I just had to have one for myself.
Sounds like you had a wonderful ride! We sneaked into Wolf Creek Ranch over the weekend and did another long one. And, we did not get caught so that was good. :D This is my favorite time of year to ride.
Hah! I had no place to put such a vigorous plant 'back in the day' that I first saw it, but seeing it there at Red Butte has stayed in my memory for several years. Thanks for helping me bring that memory back.
ReplyDeleteI wish I could take advantage of the current warm soils & the rains that are forecast for the week to have scored a nursery offering the clematis - but so far Park City doesn't have it, and I'm reluctant to ship in from out of state and miss the planting window. May just have to put a sticky-note on the calendar for next May and ask PC Nursery to order some in.
We thought to ride Sunday afternoon, but instead got caught up in seasonal projects (splitting wood, cleaning paddocks).
Next Saturday: the first annual(?) Summit County Harvest Festival at High Star Ranch (2pm - 7pm) - want to join us? We hope to bring a few of the herd (alpaca, llama) for people to visit with, and a spinning wheel to while away the afternoon.
I absolutely want to join you! I'll see if I can drag a few friends along, too. Thanks for the invite. Sounds like fun. :D
