Cymbidium Orchid
It's Garden Bloggers' Bloom Day and while I'm thrilled with all my indoor flowers, I'm a bit disappointed that the buds of my little newbies are late to the party. Perhaps they'll put on a pretty show for March.
For now, I hope you enjoy the Micro-mini Roses
And, some more Micro-mini Roses.
Are you growing weary of my Micro-minis?
Then howsabout an Azalea?
Or, the dainty orange blossoms of this cute little Kalanchoe?
No? That's not working for you?
Perhaps a worrisome garden drama is more your speed? Edna, the Christmas Cactus I've owned since college began flowering in mid-November. I usually get a month of pretty blossoms out of her and then the old gal falls back asleep until the next Christmas season. Here it is, mid-February and she's still blooming up a storm. And! She's still budding!
It's finally happened.
I think she's lost her marbles.
I think she's lost her marbles.
* Find lots more blogger's blossoms at Carol's May Dreams Garden. She's the inventor of Garden Bloggers' Bloom Day. With any luck, our blogging friends in kinder climates have some goodies blooming outdoors.
great blooms! I also have a Christmas cactus I got waaaaay back in college. It's chugged along for a lot of years now. I did a post on it and it's whole life story a few months ago. Love the cymbidium. The colors are great!
ReplyDeleteNIce photos, I love the cymbidium.
ReplyDeleteI like your miniroses. What interesting leaves they have. Very textured.
ReplyDeleteThey all work for me, beautiful show.
ReplyDeleteHappy Bloom Day.
You have some gorgeous blooms indoors, Kate! To have roses in bloom that aren't going to wilt in a week would be a real treat. Edna must enjoy winter:) No "real" goodies blooming at my house--more snow fell last night.
ReplyDeleteThe orchid is gorgeous. Roses and azaleas blooming?! I am so impressed by how beautiful your indoor plants are!
ReplyDeleteWho could tire of orchids? Great pix!
ReplyDeleteHappy bloom day!
Hi, Wendy;
ReplyDeleteI'm so thrilled to meet another 'lifetime' cactus owner! I'm heading over to find that post.
Thx, Susie, Tufa Girl and NellJean; I'm glad you like them. I feel that I'm being awfully boring this month, with nothing new to show...
Hi, Rose;
ReplyDeleteI do love my little minis. Keeps me sane during the long winter. They're a pain, though. Kind of high maintenance but, for me, worth the effort.
Thx, Sweet Bay and Town Mouse! I don't really have much to do with it... I thank the big sunny window for all these happy flowers.
ReplyDeleteI love the orchid. It's great to have plants, like your Christmas cactus, that live on and on especially when they are flowering plants.
ReplyDeleteI would never tire of looking at your mini roses. Happy GBBD.
ReplyDeleteThx, Melanie;
ReplyDeleteI couldn't believe my eyes when I saw a comment from another person who has owned a Christmas Cactus for decades. She's very special to me.
Thanks, Lisa;
ReplyDeleteThey are a labor of love... :)
You're funny. I have a Christmas Cactus named Easter, and she's just plain crazy.
ReplyDeletealoha,
ReplyDeletewhat a celebration for bloom day, i love the orchids and that gorgeous cymbidium, can you believe its too hot here in hawaii to grow those cymbidiums? what a nice collection you have blooming today. I enjoyed reading your beautiful post today:)
I absolutely love the photo of your miniature rose with snow in the background. Roses with snow is not a pairing often seen :^)
ReplyDeleteAloha Noel - You are just plain evil flaunting your simply fabulous perfect Hawaiian temps. hee - hee. I'm bundled up under a blanket, waiting for it to stop snowing. Hey! Wanna swap houses!?
ReplyDeleteI had a simply marvy time strolling your Arizona Garden this morning, Noelle! Happy GBBD!
ReplyDeleteI have a fairly new Christmas cactus which has flowered briefly this year, I am looking forward to it flowering its socks off in a few years time
ReplyDeleteHi, Patient Gardener;
ReplyDeleteFingers crossed she lives forever! Mine has and - up until recently - she hasn't always had the best of care...
Hi Kate~~ So this is what happens with plant-senility? Okay by me. LOL
ReplyDeleteLove the drama of the orchid. Exciting to see your cactus still blooming!
ReplyDeleteVery pretty! And no, I could never tire of those roses. The orchid is gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteOh, poor Edna! Should we be enjoying her in her seasonal confusion?
ReplyDeleteLooking at your flowers it's easy to forget the season...until you at the one shot of the minirose with the snowbank outside.
Kate - so happy to have found you. Thanks for leaving a comment on my site. I don't think there is such a thing as too many micro roses - especially against that white snowy background. I love your tough-love attitude about watering your plants...I feel the very same way. I'm so excited to be headed out your way next wednesday for some skiing. You know, after more than 70 inches of snow in Philadelphia this winter, I think I need to fly across the country for more snow! Kelly
ReplyDeleteHi, Grace and James!
ReplyDeleteSure! Let's enjoy crazy Edna's blooms while we can. She's up to something... I just don't know what! :)
Hi, Amy and Jean;
ReplyDeleteIf you're orchid lovers, I'd say go for that one. She's a bright beacon in my too long winter.
Woohoo, Kelly! Are you skiing on this side of the mountains -- i.e. Park City? My email address is on the profile if you'd like some local's tips.
ReplyDeletePS: I'm very proud of you... wanting more snow after you've been pounded out east! :D
I was just looking at a cymbidium at the nursery today (seems like I saw one that lives outside at a client's house). Just checked my Sunset, says it will take it to 28 degrees. Now, there's an orchid!Thanks for the pics! Jeannie
ReplyDeleteKate you have a wonderful indoor garden... beautiful colorful shots... especially love the backdrop of snow in contrast to the warmth and blooms inside your home. ;>)
ReplyDeleteI always love whatever is blooming in front of that window. What a gorgeous view! (indoors and out!)
ReplyDeleteCymbidium... ooh!
ReplyDeletegotta love cymbidiums!
ReplyDeleteWhat gorgeous cymbidium. Lovely blooms of roses as well.
ReplyDeleteWhat, no orange flowers? Thank you so very much for the colorful vase of flowers that graced my nursing home room for a week. Oh, so appreciated! BTW, are in the Uintas or the Wasatches?
ReplyDeleteLovely to see you over here, Granny! I'm glad I can continue to keep tabs on you in the blogosphere. I'm in the Wasatch Mountains. The High Uintas or only 40 miles from me, though. So, for all I know they're one in the same. Welcome back! :D
ReplyDeletewhat a lovely sight thru winter...they're all perfect!
