Garden Bloggers Bloom Day ~ February

Cymbidium Orchid

It's Garden Bloggers' Bloom Day and while I'm thrilled with all my indoor flowers, I'm a bit disappointed that the buds of my little newbies are late to the party. Perhaps they'll put on a pretty show for March.

For now, I hope you enjoy the Micro-mini Roses

And, some more Micro-mini Roses.

Are you growing weary of my Micro-minis?

Then howsabout an Azalea?
Or, the dainty orange blossoms of this cute little Kalanchoe?
No? That's not working for you?

Perhaps a worrisome garden drama is more your speed? Edna, the Christmas Cactus I've owned since college began flowering in mid-November. I usually get a month of pretty blossoms out of her and then the old gal falls back asleep until the next Christmas season. Here it is, mid-February and she's still blooming up a storm. And! She's still budding!
It's finally happened.
I think she's lost her marbles.

* Find lots more blogger's blossoms at Carol's May Dreams Garden. She's the inventor of Garden Bloggers' Bloom Day. With any luck, our blogging friends in kinder climates have some goodies blooming outdoors.

  1. great blooms! I also have a Christmas cactus I got waaaaay back in college. It's chugged along for a lot of years now. I did a post on it and it's whole life story a few months ago. Love the cymbidium. The colors are great!

  5. You have some gorgeous blooms indoors, Kate! To have roses in bloom that aren't going to wilt in a week would be a real treat. Edna must enjoy winter:) No "real" goodies blooming at my house--more snow fell last night.

  8. Hi, Wendy;
    I'm so thrilled to meet another 'lifetime' cactus owner! I'm heading over to find that post.

    Thx, Susie, Tufa Girl and NellJean; I'm glad you like them. I feel that I'm being awfully boring this month, with nothing new to show...

  9. Hi, Rose;
    I do love my little minis. Keeps me sane during the long winter. They're a pain, though. Kind of high maintenance but, for me, worth the effort.

  10. Thx, Sweet Bay and Town Mouse! I don't really have much to do with it... I thank the big sunny window for all these happy flowers.

  11. I love the orchid. It's great to have plants, like your Christmas cactus, that live on and on especially when they are flowering plants.

  25. Oh, poor Edna! Should we be enjoying her in her seasonal confusion?

    Looking at your flowers it's easy to forget the season...until you at the one shot of the minirose with the snowbank outside.

  26. Kate - so happy to have found you. Thanks for leaving a comment on my site. I don't think there is such a thing as too many micro roses - especially against that white snowy background. I love your tough-love attitude about watering your plants...I feel the very same way. I'm so excited to be headed out your way next wednesday for some skiing. You know, after more than 70 inches of snow in Philadelphia this winter, I think I need to fly across the country for more snow! Kelly

  28. Hi, Amy and Jean;
    If you're orchid lovers, I'd say go for that one. She's a bright beacon in my too long winter.

  29. Woohoo, Kelly! Are you skiing on this side of the mountains -- i.e. Park City? My email address is on the profile if you'd like some local's tips.

    PS: I'm very proud of you... wanting more snow after you've been pounded out east! :D

  30. I was just looking at a cymbidium at the nursery today (seems like I saw one that lives outside at a client's house). Just checked my Sunset, says it will take it to 28 degrees. Now, there's an orchid!Thanks for the pics! Jeannie

  36. Lovely to see you over here, Granny! I'm glad I can continue to keep tabs on you in the blogosphere. I'm in the Wasatch Mountains. The High Uintas or only 40 miles from me, though. So, for all I know they're one in the same. Welcome back! :D
