1) People call me the Queen of Procrastination. Case in point ~ this award! She gave it to me over a month ago.
2) I thought I was pretty cool in junior high. Reviewing the photos, later in life, set me straight.
3) I gave birth to a beauty queen. Not a clue how that happened. Refer back to picture #2 and I'm sure you'll be as confused as me!
4) Of all the pretty flowers I've grown indoors Tigridia is, without a doubt, my favorite. The only problem is... you have to be there at the precise moment she decides to flower. The bud opens ~ and dies ~ on one blissful day.
5) If I could own any car in the world it would be one you've never heard of: the Nash Metropolitan. Can't you just see me putzing over to the local nursery in this little darling? (I would need a new bonnet.)
6) I've been within 2 inches of a black bear in the wild. Fortunately for me, the car window was rolled up.
7) I live next door to Lindsey Vonn. If you're following the 2010 Winter Olympics you probably know who she is. I've never met her, though her husband has sent me angry emails many times. I'm rooting for her to win gold in all of her events. She's gorgeous and supremely talented, but I still feel kind of sorry for her, being married to such a jerk.
8) Bonus tidbit: I can be mean and nasty sometimes, too.
Passing the Honest Scrap Award on to ten more victims:
This is awesome! I cannot wait to do it! Love your last one, soooo funny:)
ReplyDeleteI also ended up with two beauties, but my girls get it from their dad! That car would be such a signature statement and since I adore anything vintage and all things turquoise, I'm right there with you.
ReplyDeleteHi, Susan!
ReplyDeleteI'll bet you know them, don't you? I'll probably get in all kinds of trouble for writing that but he hasn't called the sheriff on me in quite some time so it will give him something to do after the olympics! PS: Can't wait to read your true confessions. :))
Hi Risa;
Please don't get any grand ideas. I call DIBS on that car! Tee Hee :D
Why does Vonn's husband send you nasty e-mails??
ReplyDeleteGreat scraps. :)
Hi, Sweet Bay;
ReplyDeleteI'll never tell. :)
Those really made me smile! Thanks for the day brightener on a gloomy (cloudy) day! Oh, love the car, too, but I'd settle for an old, rusty beater-up bicycle... maybe with crocheted graffiti all over. :D
ReplyDeleteOH, you di-int!
ReplyDeleteYou are hilarious, Kate. We'll see how long my type-A self will allow me to procrastinate on passing the award along.
Hi Kate, Can't imagine you being nasty. ;-) Cute post. Your daughter is gorgeous and so are you!
ReplyDeleteIt would be difficult to tell anythiny no one knows, because I tell all of it on my blog!
ReplyDeleteHi, Snowcatcher!
ReplyDeleteI'm happy I could bring a smile to your face. It's been a dreary, nasty week here, as well. A beater bike sounds like a fab way to motor around come summer!
Titanium!
ReplyDeleteI met that black bear up in your area. Man! They move fast. I got out of the car, shot a photo of the bear from far away, climbed back into the car and bam! His schnoz was pressed against the car window. (I don't think he wanted to snack on me. :)
Why thank you, Shady, so very sweet of you to say. :)
ReplyDeleteOh, pleez, Gail - Everybody has one skele in the closet... Don't they? :))
ReplyDeleteThat they do. In fact, they scare me far worse the Ursus arctos horribilis.
ReplyDeleteAlso, thanks for the award! :) You're awesome.
I DO know what a Nash is! In fact, in my hometown they have one mounted on a tall pole that rotates (well it used to anyway!) Very cool.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun post and congrats on your award!
Hi, Bookworm;
ReplyDeleteOh what a sad fate for a Nash. Is it heavily guarded? Perhaps I could steal it and give it a happy home! :))
I'll confess - Titanium - you got me to Google it. :)
ReplyDeleteFor those of us in the lower 48, this gal is talkin' Grizzly Bears!
I love Nash Metropolitans! The Mister and I once went to a car auction that advertised two of them, but they were in bad shape, so we left without any. I will have to put my thinking cap on to come up with some scrap!
ReplyDeleteKate,
ReplyDeleteBears are my favorite animal, though I'm not sure how I would feel about having a nose pressed up against my window. Thankfully he just seemed to be investigating. ;) That car is a beauty!
I see Vonn won gold yesterday in the downhill, pretty awesome! That Nash is super cool and your daughter is beautiful. Great post Kate.
ReplyDeleteLove the tigrida. I've never been able to get one to grow, much less bloom. I knew about the Nash, and I know the daughter, but I don't think she's any better looking than her Mom (not that I'm biased or anything.)
ReplyDeleteHi, Jan ~
ReplyDeleteI hope someday you find one in pristine condition. And, I also hope you give me a ride in it! The pic of that Nash is from 3 years ago. It was for sale at a gas station in a small town on the South Dakota prairie - where I just happened to be buying gas. I'd have traded my car and maybe even Bad Dog for a chance to own it.
Liisa ~ You are so brave, loving bears. I suppose you get your fair share of black bears in the Vermont woods. It was like that in Minnesota, too, though I never grew comfortable sharing the trails with them. Particularly during berry season. :)
ReplyDeleteThe bear is scary...even through a window. I tend to procrastinate in my garden sometimes. I was so excited to see Lindsey Vonn win her medal yesterday too :^)
ReplyDeleteThx, Melanie;
ReplyDeleteYes! It was fun to see her win and I hope she does it again! Thanks again for the scrap pass along. As far as memes go, this one is a goodie. :))
Aw, Wunx, you are biased... :) But thank you for the lovely compliment. Tigridia - Mexican Shell Flowers, if anyone is interested, seem to require a lot of warmth in order for the bulbs to grow.
ReplyDeleteLOL, I was geeky, awkward, punk in high school. Never had a daughter, but knew if I did, she'd be a popular cheerleader! :) OK, I just HAVE to know, why in the world is skiier's hubby sending you mean messages? I mean, if not specifics, does it have to do with being neighbors or pets or... ???
ReplyDeleteKate, this is priceless! Love it! So what did you do to warrant nasty e-mails from Mr. Vonn?
ReplyDeleteAnd I hate to break this to you, but I am The Queen of Procrastination. I even have an honest-to-goodness crown because of it. I know, I know...you'll argue the point, but since I'm older than you are, I wore the crown before you were even born. LOL. You can be a princess though - how about that? You can get back to me on that. Sometime.
That CAR! I have heard of a Nash, but had no idea they made such a cute little thing! They need to start making it again! I'd buy one in pink. Or green. Or black and white. How cool would that be? I would even give up my Beetle for that.
I totally enjoyed reading this! Thanks for doing it!
Oh, I forgot to mention that I grow Tigridia outside and bring the bulbs in for the winter. I agree...blooms are very short-lived and if you get a hot wind, they really don't like that very well. I never thought of growing them inside!
ReplyDeleteFabulous idea, Kylee!
ReplyDeleteYou get a pink one, I'll get a green one, and we'll do a gardener's road trip to Buffalo!
Now onto more serious matters...
What did I do...? What makes you think I had anything to do with this? Poor little old me? I would never stir up trouble. Not intentionally, anyway. :)
Fun post. My favorite is the headstand. Can you still do it? My dream car is an old fashioned pick up - all the better to haul shrubs and mulch and other random stuff I find on the curb.
ReplyDeleteYou are a stitch, Kate! Oh yes, do please tell why you get scathing e-mails ... (Agree, Tigridia is a beauty like both you and your daughter!)
ReplyDeleteYeah! Road trip in the Nashes!
ReplyDeleteLet's see...why would I think... maybe because you just LOOK ornery? Yeah, that's it. LOL
Hi, Monica;
ReplyDeleteSo very happy to hear you were also an awkward punk in high school - weren't we all?
Yes, Kelly -- I could probably still do a headstand but, with my luck, somebody would take another picture of me. :)
Hey, Joey;
Are you closing in on a deal with Food Network? I'd hate to share you with the masses but I think you could easily give Rachel a run for her money.
Dear Kylee; Am I that transparent? :D
I love the Nash...my sister had one when I was in high school. It was the most fun car i've ever ridden in... gail
ReplyDeleteHello Kate! I came across your blog for the first time this evening and I absolutely love it! You have quite a gift for writing and humor! I'm new to blogging and am learning so much just from checking out fellow gardeners blogs. I have also been considering taking the Master Gardener course here in Illinois. I would love to hear your suggestions or comments on the MG course you became certified in.
ReplyDeleteThanks!
Judy
That's funny that he sends you angry e-mails. Did he ask you for your e-mail address and then go home and start firing off? That's sorta strange!!
ReplyDeletebeautiful pics you've shared - your beauty queen daughter, the cooooool car, gorgeous house. The plaid pants aren't too bad too. :)
Wow, Judy, thanks ever so much for the very sweet compliments. I'll pop over to your blog and respond in detail about the master gardening. I think it's well worth it. You meet wonderful people, get connected with many rewarding community projects. And, learn a lot too. :)
ReplyDeleteHey, Wendy!
ReplyDeleteTo be clear -- that's not my house. That's Vonn's house. Mines a shack compared to that place! I gave him my business card after the first 'incident.' Which inspired email communication hence forth.
PS: I'm likin' those plaid pants, too! I was one stylish little geek back then. :)
Now Kate~~ You can't take that Queen title from me. I won't let you. See I can be mean and nasty too. :)
ReplyDeleteI love those pretty cool pants. Tigridia is a beautiful flower, I agree. I stupidly buried my bulb outside. It wintered over the first year and bloomed but I blinked and missed it. The following winter did it in. Houseplant? What a concept. I learn very slowly.
Very cool car! Looks like there's plenty of trunk space for your nursery booty.
I think if Mr. Vonn's email rants have anything to do with neighborhood GARDENING, perhaps you should tell us so we can give you the support you need.
Congrats on the award. I see I've got unfamiliar bloggers to get acquainted with.
Congratulations on your award, Kate! The junior high photo is too funny:) Another thing we have in common--I have a beauty queen daughter, too. My husband and I look at each other and try to figure out how we managed to have such handsome and beautiful children:)
ReplyDeleteWhat an exciting life you must lead--black bears and angry neighbors! Now I'm going off to look up Lindsay Vonn...I think I read about her...
I think it's safe to say that you might be getting another email from the angry guy.
ReplyDeleteLuv the Nash, especially the color.
I need to visit your blog more often. You're a fun person, that's for sure.
donna
Kate now you will have me wondering for the rest of my life (and there isn't much left to it .. so it would be a merciful , kind gesture) to throw a tidbit of information as to why the jerk sent you angry e-mails .. besides that .. I am Canadian so it wouldn't be as if you told tales out of school ? hehehehe
ReplyDeleteI think it has something to do with gardening and respecting the earth .. that maybe just me .. but I have a funny feeling the "jerk" is just that ? LOL
Hey .. don't worry about publishing this .. it is a conversation on the side girl ! wink wink
